Welcome to Stayf Draws on Substack! I am Stefan de Groot a Dutch artist. I am an illustrator, animator and a curator of museum exhibitions. I have been working freelance for over 30 years. I now mostly draw and paint and animate on the iPad. Ten years ago I started my YouTube channel Stayf Draws with video tutorials on how to draw and paint in Procreate and how to animate in Procreate Dreams and ToonSquid.
Why Stayf Draws on Substack?
Substack gives me the opportunity to share more insights in my working proces and art that inspires me. I like to share my experience about writing, drawing, painting and animating. For Procreate I make custom brushes. When there are new brushes out, I will first tell you about it here. Also when I have discounts on the Procreate Brushes I sell on my Gumroad.
Horus Hippo and the World of Whatif?
At the moment I am working on the graphic novel series ‘World of Whatif?’ with my cartoon character Horus Hippo. The drawing and writing experience of that series I will share here. With samples of sketches, inks and the final coloring of the pages.
